"The eleven double portraits in the "Young and Old" series are large canvases painted between 1991 and 1993 of twentieth century figures in the arts, each being confronted by a version of their younger selves. The series began with Charles Chaplin (collection of The Rose Art Museum, Brandeis University) and culminated in a double sized diptych of James Joyce (collection of The Hood Museum, Dartmouth College)."
